I'm a fan of fresh mandarin juice, and it's challenging to get this juice freshly pressed else where.

I also don't like to get special devices such as a citrus press, and therefore I came up with a simple solution to make mandarin juice, which you can copy at home.

    TL;DR

You will need a blender to make this citrus fruit juice at home and a fine sieve to separate the juice from the fleshy parts remains and seeds.

It's still a simple process and won't take more than 5 minutes, making this the perfect breakfast juice!

I love it because mandarins are easy to peel, compared to naval oranges and other orange types.

    Ingredients

    • Mandarins — Also called Mandarin oranges. They come in various sizes, I used standard mandarins that are rather sweet and not all too sour. You can also us related and much smaller Clementine oranges instead of Mandarins.
    • Water
    • Sugar — optional, I do everything without sugar. If your mandarins are sweet and not all too sour, you might not need to add sugar at all. As an alternative, you can add honey, palm sugar, or date sugar.
    • Ice Cubes or Crushed Ice — optional, I like it without and use cold water instead.

Make sure all the juice is getting collected in the bowl with a spoon.

Place ice cubes or crushed ice into a glass and top up with the homemade mandarin juice.

How I use and store it

I generally prepare my mandarin juice every 2–3 days in the colder months when mandarins are in season.

The juice is prepared as per the instructions, and then I store it in a pitcher in my fridge and I just pour out the juice whenever I feel like it.

I don't ever freeze my juice because I prefer it freshly prepared, but you can do so if you like.

The fresh juice will be good for about 2–3 days cooled in the fridge. Just make sure to stir or shake the juice because it separates when it stands around. When it separates, that's normal for fresh mandarin juice.

Drink the juice pure as is, or mix it into cocktails and mocktails (virgin cocktails without alcohol). Paul makes a yummy mocktail with mandarin, pineapple, and grapefruit juice.
