What is Sriracha Mayo?
Sriracha Mayo is made of Mayonnaise, Sriracha and can contain other flavor enhancing ingredients.
Sriracha is a spicy chili dipping sauce that originated in Thailand. It's also known as the rooster sauce because the original has unmistakably a rooster depicted on the bottle.
The spicy chili sauce has gained in popularity around the world, and especially in the west where over time it has been enjoyed with non-Asian dishes as well.
Ingredients
- Mayo — Either store-bought classic mayonnaise or a homemade mayonnaise. You can prepare mayonnaise within 5 minutes at home with simple ingredients and a hand blender!
- Sriracha Sauce — to add heat to your dipping sauce.

Uses
I have found a ridiculous number of uses for this hot and creamy sauce. I either use it as a dip or as a sauce over foods.
Most of the time people limit themselves by serving it as a homemade sushi sauce, which, by serving it this way, doesn't do the spicy mayonnaise justice.
Turns out the best way to enjoy spicy sriracha mayo is to dip potato fries, chicken tenders and nuggets and even my pigs in a blanket into the sauce.
A secret tip is to drizzle some hot mayo into your hot dog, or make it your new sexy fish taco sauce or Vietnamese banh mi sauce.
I switched the big mac sauce in a burger with the creamy sriracha sauce. Another idea is to try crab or shrimp burgers with sriracha mayo sauce.
Or how about you serve this creamy hot sauce with pickled vegetables or with a lovely steak or Chicken Schnitzel?
Variations
Variations of Sriracha Mayo recipes are totally doable, and I suggest you try these out as well. Use the same ratio as described in my recipe further below, just switch the mayo.
With Japanese Mayonnaise
A less obvious creamy sriracha dipping sauce is the one made of Japanese mayo (aka Kewpie) instead of the regular western mayo. Japanese Mayo is made of egg yolks and uses rice vinegar.
This hot mayo can be adjusted to either create a Japanese spicy mayo recipe or a rather tangy sweet sriracha mayo dip or sauce.
By the way, the Vietnamese have their version of mayo too if you are interested to experimenting.
With Vegan Sriracha Mayonnaise
Yes, you can make a vegan sriracha mayo! To do that you just need to switch regular egg mayonnaise with eggless vegan mayonnaise, that's it!
With Homemade French Mayonnaise
With that, I mean the original mayonnaise recipe, made from scratch.
I shared my mum's homemade mayonnaise recipe. In that recipe, you can switch the sunflower oil with olive oil and skip the chives garnish all together to prepare an American-Asian Sriracha mayo with a French homemade mayonnaise. (I know, the irony)
Storing
You can prepare this dipping sauce in advance and place it into a small airtight container.
I use these small glass containers because the dip is visible in the fridge and I don't forget about its existence. In that manner, your dip can be kept for about 3 days tops in your fridge.
Keep in mind that storing it will only work with store-bought products. Homemade mayonnaise contains eggs and should be consumed the same day.

How many people does it serve and size of serving.
Helene Dsouza says
Stephanie, the quantity in the recipe is for a small bowl (as shown) and that is for about 2 servings. In the recipe card, you can slide the bar to increase the servings (located above the listed ingredients).

I can see why this is your favorite. It could easily become mine as well because I adore Sriracha!
