I'm a gigantic fan of Nashville Hot Chicken Seasoning, and I use it beyond the classic chicken dish. I love it sprinkled over my meals and as a general food flavoring.
That is why I have come up with my fiery version, that contains a selection of spices. Add this seasoning to your collection of hot spice blends.

Ingredient Notes
- Cayenne Pepper — The prime ingredient and spice that makes this spice blend deliciously hot.
- Dark Brown Sugar — Adds depth, and it balances the heat and savory umami flavors.
- Smoked Paprika — For smoky awesomeness. I like Spanish Smoked Paprika.
- Garlic Powder — Classic flavor addition.
- Onion Powder — Goes hand in hand with garlic powder in this seasoning blend.
- Thyme — To add a tad of herby fresh flavors.
- Oregano – for extra comfy flavors.
- Cumin — To compliment and match the paprika and cayenne pepper.
- Salt & Black Pepper

Serving
Get creative with this homemade Nashville Hot Chicken seasoning. The tingly hot flavors are perfect sprinkled over fried eggs, vegetables, fries, mixed into homemade mayonnaise and tossed into freshly made popcorn.
I use it to flavor this simple roasted chicken thighs by rubbing it into the chicken. Bake it and you have a Nashville flavored chicken.
Proper Nashville hot chicken is made with a batter, and it's deep-fried. Of course, you are free to use this seasoning to make authentic Nashville hot chicken.
Storing
Keep your spice blend in an airtight container. I always recommend transparent glass containers so that the spice blend is visible. Or else it will end up at the bottom of your spice rack, and it will turn bad.
Your Nashville hot chicken seasoning should be stored on a shelf away from direct sunlight and humidity. Spices lose their oomph over time, so use within a year at least. Furthermore, try to use only high quality freshly ground spices for the best quality.
