Water infused with grapefruit is a fruit flavored water that will help you to stay hydrated all day long.
Flavor infused waters are also known as spa waters or detox waters.

TL;DR
I love eating grapefruits and when bottled grapefruit water was popularized in Europe, I couldn't stop drinking this instead of plain water.
Flavored waters are super common in Europe and if you have been following me for a while, you will know how much I advocate for fruit infused waters.
They are easily prepared at home with real fruits and I prefer the homemade version most of the time.
The water gets infused with the fruit, but it's not a juice or a smoothie. The flavors are minimal, the water isn't sweet, nor sour or anything else. In fact, the water, in most cases, remains transparent clear.
Prepping a batch takes 5 minutes, and you have a bottle that you can take to work, school, gym, or park.
Ingredient Notes
- Grapefruit — Fresh grapefruit.
- Water — Tap water. You can add ice when you are ready to serve it to water it down further.
Process Overview
Step 1
Prep your grapefruit, cut off the peel and pith.
Slice the grapefruit pulp into manageable, smaller chunks.
Step 2
Place the grapefruit pieces into a clean bottle or jug and top off with fresh tap water.
Step 3
Place the grapefruit water bottle into your fridge and allow the water to be infused by the grapefruit. I leave it to sit for at least 4 hours, but you can drink it earlier too, just that it won't be as intense in flavor.

Tips
- I like to use a regular bottle with a lid because it's easier to clean them out. This is a great option if you don't mind, or like, fruit pieces in your infused water.
- Special infusion bottles can be used as well, but make sure to clean the infusion cage well.
- Prep your grapefruit water bottle at night and in the morning you have a bottle ready to be used.
- The grapefruit infused water can be served with ice cubes in a glass.
- I like to drink the infused water the same day, then I top it up again for a second round with the same fruit pieces and at night I eat the grapefruit pieces. Only do this on the same day, fruit pieces older than 24 hours should be discarded.
Serving & Storing
Keep the bottle in the refrigerator at all times to cool. If you are traveling, use insulated bottle infusers and place the bottle in a fridge, if possible, as soon as you are at work.
Use the infused water within 24 hours.
