juice with fresh pineapple ginger and cardamom

Fresh pineapple and ginger juice, flavored with a hint of aromatic green cardamom. A trio of fruity fresh and warm flavors in the shape of a homemade juice.

You don't need a juicer to make this juice at home. The juice making method involves a blender.

    TL;DR

I think I discovered this juice flavoring combo in India as we were traveling the Himalayas. One of the wonderful juice shops had it on the menu.

A hint of ginger compliments the pineapple, the star fruit in this homemade juice recipe, and the cardamom pairs well with that. It's a fantastic match that you wouldn't come across otherwise.

The juice is prepared with a blender, and you will need a fine-mesh strainer.

    Ingredient Notes

    • Pineapple — Make sure your pineapple has properly ripened. You can keep the core or cut it out and toss it, it depends on whether it's fibrous or not.
    • Ginger — Fresh peeled ginger, the fresher, and younger, the better.
    • Water
    • Sugar — Optional.
    • Cardamom — Aromatic ground green cardamom compliments the sweet, tangy taste of pineapple really well.

    Ingredients

    • 2 Inches Ginger fresh
    • 1 Medium Pineapple
    • 1 Cup Water
    • 1-2 Tablespoons Sugar optional
    • pinch Green Cardamom Ground
    US - Metric

    Instructions

    • Peel your ginger and slice into rough pieces. Keep aside.
      2 Inches Ginger
    • Cut off the green top of your pineapple and the outer skin. You can leave the core. Cut out the core if it's fibrous. Cut the pineapple into chunks.
      1 Medium Pineapple
    • Place the pineapple, ginger slices, water sugar and pinch of ground cardamom into a blender jar.
2 Inches Ginger, 1 Medium Pineapple, 1-2 Tablespoons Sugar, pinch Green Cardamom Ground, 1 Cup Water
    • Blend smooth.
    • Strain the juice by keeping a fine mesh-strainer over a bowl and pour the blended juice into the bowl. The strained juice will fall into the bowl, help along with a silicone spatula or tablespoon and move around in circular motion so that the juice gets strained through faster. Repeat the process until all juice is strained, and discard any fibrous fruit parts.
    • Skim off the foam, and pour fresh pineapple juice into a glass, with or without ice, and enjoy cooled.

    Equipment

    • Blender to blend smooth
    • Silicone Spatula to press juice through the strainer
    • Fine-Mesh Strainer to strain juice
    • Medium Bowl

    Serving & Storing

Serve your juice cooled with ice cubes or at room temperature.

You can use shaved ice too instead of water when blending it into a juice so that your juice is cooled from the get-go.

You can prep the pineapple ginger cardamom juice in advance, too. Store the strained juice by keeping it in a closed bottle in your fridge. The juice will be good for 2–3 days.

Just make sure to shake the bottle before every use.
