18 Fun Food Names You Can Make at Home! cover

You might have noticed that I love funny food names. I have been sharing a few recipes with out-of-the-norm names for a while now, but I thought you'd appreciate them all in one place.

I'll be, of course, working on extending this list in the near future.

18 Fun Food Names You Can Make at Home! cover

My grandfather passed away, at the age of 98, a few months ago and the 1st April was his birthday. He also loved joking about funny food names, and he would have come up with a much crazier list.

That said, I hope you will chuckle at one or two of the names, and perhaps you'll try some of the recipes. They all taste marvelous!

    Johnny Marzetti

    johnny marzetti american goulash
Johnny Marzetti sounds like a guy you’d invite to dinner, and honestly, you should. This baked pasta casserole loaded with ground meat, tomatoes, and cheese is pure comfort in a dish. It’s old-school, no-fuss, and totally crowd-pleasing every single time.

    Cock a Leekie Soup

    Get the Recipe: krumpli.co.uk
With a name like Cock-a-Leekie, you know it’s got character. This Scottish soup has been around for centuries but still somehow tastes like something a trendy café would serve. Chicken, leeks, barley, and yes, prunes. Don’t knock it till you’ve slurped it.

    Slutty Brownies

    Get the Recipe: thesoccermomblog.com
Slutty Brownies don’t play by the rules. They stack cookie dough, Oreos, and brownie batter into one wild, over-the-top dessert that’s as extra as it sounds. Every bite is gooey, chocolatey chaos in the best way possible.

    Mini Pigs in a Blanket

pigs in a blanket with puff pastry
Mini Pigs in a Blanket are tiny, toasty bites of happiness. Juicy sausages wrapped in golden dough somehow disappear by the dozen. They're the life of the party and they know it.

Individual Toad in the Hole for 2 with Onion Gravy

    Get the Recipe: krumpli.co.uk
No actual toads involved, we promise. These mini classics puff up like they’re showing off, ready to soak up every drop of that rich port and onion gravy. A cozy throwback that feels like a warm hug from your British nan.

    Santa Butt Ding Dongs

    Get the Recipe: myunentitledlife.com
Santa Butt Ding Dongs are the cheekiest treat at any holiday party. These hilariously festive snacks are guaranteed to get a giggle before they even get a bite. If you're wondering how to make your own jolly backside desserts, just keep going and join the silliness.

    Prisoner's Pasta

    Prisoner's Pasta (Pasta alla Carcerata)
Prisoner’s Pasta may sound dramatic, but it’s deliciously simple. This one-pot wonder of tomato, garlic, and spaghetti feels like a rebellious act against complicated cooking. It’s bold, unfussy, and ready to break free from your weekly dinner routine.

    Grasshopper Pie

    Get the Recipe: inthekitch.net
This pie doesn’t hop, but it *will* disappear fast. A creamy frozen dessert that tastes like a mint-chocolate cocktail, minus the glass. No oven, no fuss, just dessert that makes you giggle and grab a second slice.

    Walking Banana Pudding

    Get the Recipe: gritsandgouda.com
Walking Banana Pudding sounds like it needs a leash, but it just needs a spoon. Layers of pudding, bananas, wafers, and whipped cream all stuffed into a snack bag for pure handheld chaos. It’s silly, nostalgic, and wildly delicious.

    Beanie Weenies

    one pot Beanie Weenies
Beanie Weenies might sound like a joke, but they mean serious comfort. A warm mix of baked beans and sliced hot dogs that’s as easy as it is nostalgic. It’s the kind of meal that makes you feel like a kid again, in the best way.

    Cowgirl Caviar

    Get the Recipe: parsleyandparm.com
Cowgirl Caviar is here to steal the spotlight and maybe your chips too. Sweet mangos and juicy strawberries crash the party in this fruity, fiery remix of the classic. It’s bold, it’s crunchy, and it totally belongs at your next beach day or backyard bash.

    Drunken Noodles

    Pad Kee Mao
Drunken Noodles don’t actually require booze, but they do bring the chaos. Spicy, saucy, and packed with bold flavor, these stir-fried noodles taste like a wild night in a bowl. It’s the kind of dish that wakes up your taste buds and refuses to behave.

    Silly Chili Macaroni

    Get the Recipe: savingtalents.com
Silly Chili Mac isn’t just fun to say, it’s fun to eat too. Twirly pasta, hearty chili, and gooey cheese come together in a dish that never takes itself too seriously. Kids love the name, adults love the flavor, and seconds are basically mandatory.

    Nuts and Bolts Snack Mix

    Get the Recipe: butteredveg.com
Nuts and Bolts sounds like hardware but tastes like party fuel. It’s the crunchy, salty, slightly addictive snack mix that somehow disappears faster than you can say “where did it all go?” A little chaotic, a lot delicious, and absolutely essential for your next get-together.

    Strawberry Fool

    Strawberry Fool Dessert Recipe
Strawberry Fool sounds like a prank, but it’s actually pure dessert bliss. Whipped cream and sweet strawberries swirl together in a treat that’s light, fluffy, and ridiculously easy. It’s old-fashioned, a little silly, and always a crowd-pleaser.

    Smoked Shotgun Shells

    Get the Recipe: binkysculinarycarnival.com
Smoked Shotgun Shells sound dangerous, but taste divine. Imagine pasta tubes stuffed with meat and cheese, wrapped in bacon, then smoked until everything’s melty and magical. It’s part Italian comfort, part backyard BBQ, and totally unforgettable.

Egg in a Basket (Hole in Ones)

    Get the Recipe: chocolatesandchai.com
Egg in a Basket is breakfast with a built-in surprise. A golden egg tucked right into the middle of crisp, buttery toast feels both nostalgic and just plain fun. It’s simple, satisfying, and somehow always hits the spot no matter your age.

    Rasta Pasta

    Easy Rasta Pasta Recipe [+Video]
Rasta Pasta brings the color and the kick. Creamy, spicy, and loaded with bell peppers, it’s a pasta dish that knows how to party. Bold flavors, vibrant vibes, and not a dull bite in sight.
