📖 Recipe
Coco Loco Brian Juice (Halloween Special)
Ingredients
- 4 Coconuts with Meat and Water
- 2 cup Pineapple Chunks
- 2 Banana
- Ice Cubes optional
To decorate coconut (optional)
- Red Food Coloring
- Acrylic Paint to paint faces on the coconuts
Instructions
- Crack the coconuts open (use one of these coconut opening options). Open it so that you can use the coconut as a cup. Collect the coconut water. We open coconuts with a machete. One or two blows at the right point are the best way to open a coconut.4 Coconuts with Meat and Water
To decorate coconut
- Rinse and pat dry coconuts. Pour a few drops of red food coloring over the coconut meat to make it appear like blood.Red Food Coloring
- Paint faces with the acyclic paint on the outer coconut wall (not the inner edible coconut meat and drinking area!). This is purely a decorative part.Acrylic Paint
For the Juice
- Place pineapple chunks, coconut water and banana into a blender and blend to a smooth juice.2 cup Pineapple Chunks, 2 Banana
- Strain the juice through a fine mesh and collect the juice in a bowl.
- Pour the strained juice into the decorated coconut and serve up. Ice cubes are optional.
very creative and fun 🙂
Magnificent!
Hi Helene, stumbled on to your page throu FB via Dassana, this is such a wonderful idea...and love the spooky look...wondered why I dint think of making something like this before...since my kids are home today...they sort of enjoyed your dressed up coconut pics...
Love this idea! The coconuts look so cute!
hihi XD
Hehe this made me giggle. I know they are meant to be scary but they look so cute!
Actually they are meant to be cute and scary. After recent local events I had to opt for that direction.
This is my very first time seeing coconut getting all dressed up in Halloween theme! LOVE IT and I see your fun personality in this post!
I agree I hadn't seen that anywhere else before either. 😉
How fun are these?! Sounds like you had fun making them as well!
sure had! I am a child within me. 😉
Such a fun idea! These really look terrific. And I like the brain goo. 😉 Very creative and fun - thanks.
thanks John! Glad you agree. 😉
this is such a great idea helene. halloween is has always been so new to me in spite of seeing so many posts all around for the last 4 years. i just cannot relate to it at all 🙁
but i loved your creative idea of halloween with the coconuts.
Dassana, we don't celebrate the American Halloween either in central Europe. We roman Catholics have the all souls day (not sure if its called like that in English). The difference is that we don't have kiddish trick or treats round abouts, we go to the cemetery on the 1st and 2nd of nov to honor our ancestors. The tradition hails back from the Celts -> Shamhain. It marks a new year in ancient times and its the beginning of the cold season and ends (actually) at carnival just before the fasting season. They say the daemons awaken in this period and their peak time is on the 5th of December when the daemons come down the mountains to take the naughty kids and on the 6th saint nicolas (santa clause) comes to reward the good kids, but thats another story... ^.^
I always found Halloween fun because of the creativity involved. =)
I have missed visiting you over here!!
These look like a lot of fun!
I love how you always incorporate culture into your posts!
Yeah, where have you been Arwa? missing you here.
This would be perfect for my event this month which is also featuring drinks, come take a look........
thanks deb, checked out your link and it was directing to a non existent page. Anyway I removed your link from here since I don't accept links in the comment area anymore. =) Thanks for letting me know though!
This looks so cool and adorable!
Imagine those served on the beach for Halloween. ^.^
Hahaha these are so cute and definitely made me giggle. What a great idea!
=D
Aww these are so sweet...and you went the full length to entertain us, thanks!!
Are those plantains or bananas?
Loved the photos especially the sickle!
=D yep all the way! Those are locally grown bananas from the neighborhood. They have a darker yellow shade, are a bit slimy and have much more flavor. My husband won't eat any other bananas...
Thanks dear! 😉
I was waiting for my daughter to wake up and see this post. She loved your idea so much that she has decided to use make this for Halloween. I don't do anything on Halloween but she loved this holiday and I cooperate with whatever she asks for.
Oh how exciting! I want to see what she made. XD
That is a really fun idea, Helene!
Love it!
Thank you Cher! =)
Haha these are adorable! And I agree...the perfect halloween decoration!
Thank you Joanne. That's Halloween in Goa from now on. Little Coconut heads. =P
What a great idea to use coconuts! I know pumpkins aren't always readily available to everyone! Wish I had younger children...they would have loved these when they were little 🙂
Liz I dont have kids, but I have to feed my inner child sometimes. =P
Hahaha! They are cute little guys and I'm sure the kids would love the display. This would definitely counter Mr. Pumpkin heads. Thank you and have a good weekend, Helene! 🙂
Hey Ray, you are right kids just love them, well I can understand why, they look to cute, not horrible spooky. 😀 Thanks I wish u the same!
Very spooky, it reminds me a little bit Mr Wilson in Cast Away (the movie). I'm sure my kid would love it!!!!
LOL I had to laugh at the thought of Wilson and you are right in a way, they have some similarities Rita. =)
This is really cool...super creative.
Aparna
Thanks Aparna, glad you like it. =)
Lol! This is so much fun! I bet everyone just loves it! Coconuts aren't that easy to come by here but you've inspired me - I'm sure orange skins will work too! Superb!
Hi Lin! Oh yeah m husbands two young cousins enjoyed each bit. ^.^ How nice that I managed to inspire you. Have a nice weekend! 😉
Haha, what an awesome idea Helene - these are SO cool. Hallowe'en Brain Matter :D. I've got a huge grin on my face just looking at these!
=P that was the point of the heads, to give you all something to smile at. Happy it worked out! 😉
