With fresh green beans (If you use parboiled frozen beans, skip this)
Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the green beans for about 5 minutes until slightly tender.

Transfer them immediately to a bowl of ice-cold water to stop the cooking, then drain and pat dry.
Assemble
Heat butter in a pan over medium heat and cook the sliced onions until softened.

Add the bacon and cook until crispy, then stir in the garlic and cook briefly until fragrant.

Add the preboiled green beans to the pan and toss to combine.

Clean your fresh green beans first by breaking off both ends. Don't use fibrous green beans, only young, tender green beans.Add a dash of baking soda to your boiling green beans to retain the fresh green color.
