Peel your potato, onion, and carrot, and dice them all.
1 Pound Potatoes, 2 Medium Onions, 3 Large Carrots
Place them into a pan with water, some salt, and a bay leaf to cook through.
Water, Pinch Salt, 1 Bay Leaf
Strain the vegetables once they are cooked through and discard the bay leaf.
Take the cooked potatoes, carrots, and onions back to the pan. Add milk, butter, nutmeg, salt, and black pepper.
½ Cup Milk, 2 Tablespoon Butter, ⅛ Teaspoon Nutmeg, Salt, Pinch Black Pepper
Keep it on the lowest heat setting and start mashing with a potato masher or simply with a fork. Mash the vegetables to the desired consistency (they can be a bit chunky or not).
Take it from the heat once done and serve up your mash as a side dish.
