In a soup plate or tray, break in an egg. Scramble the egg.
1 Egg
Pour in the milk, add the sugar and vanilla extract to the egg. Mix it all well to a smooth batter.
½ cup Milk, 5 drops Vanilla Extract, 1½ Tablespoon Sugar
Heat up a skillet. Add 1 tablespoon of butter for each frying round. Wait for the butter to melt. Keep over a medium to high heat setting.
3 Tablespoon Butter
Dip a slice of bread on both sides in the batter. Don't leave it to soak too long, it should be a brief soak, or else the bread will get soggy and will break apart.
6 slices Toast Bread
Place the soaked bread slice in the hot skillet with the butter. Repeat the process with the second bread slice and place it next to the first slice of bread. Keep over a medium to high heat setting, adjust the heat.
Cook the bread slice until slightly golden, then turn and cook on the other side. Cook both sides golden brown or until you are satisfied with the look of it. Take from the heat and place two slices per serving.
Repeat the process with the 4 other slices of bread or until you have used up all the batter. Always use about 1 tablespoon butter to fry 2 slices of french toast.
Sprinkle some granulated or powdered sugar over the french toast and serve hot.
