Sometimes a rest is required, a break from the ever so fast running world. We all need to replenish our energy levels and creative notions every now and then. We are not robots, or we wouldn’t be able to create out of inspiration. Luckily, we are just humans, or the world and especially the internet would be just a dead boring place for us all. Imagine, if there were no Artists and Designers in the world, no Painters, no Authors, no cupcake Bakers. What a liveless and joyless, empty world. Just imagine!
My life is fine as long as I take a pause every week once. I have tried to work everyday before, in fact I have done that until recently, but then I realized I was loosing my personal creative touch in my work. I was turning into a robot. So, I have decided to always take some time to allow my creative juice to flow. That might be in my painting, writing or even cooking and baking, because if you look at it closer, any type of doing can involve a creative process, depending on how you as an individual take it.
A book, I read a couple of years back explained that well. The book was one of the Osho teachings that were published into words, it is called creativity. Whatever is written in the book is actually common sense, just that we tend to forget certain things in our daily life. One of the chapters explains, that even a person sweeping a floor can be a creative being. What he meant was, that you don’t have to perceive it as a chore (whatever you do), but that in fact you might even enjoy it, if you do it in your way with a inner peace, allowing the godly energy to come through, to flow through you.
His words helped me to develop my creativity more over the years. Yet, sometimes I fall back into my habits and tend to forget those wise words in the time when I need them the most. That’s why time, to take a break and to collect my wits, is required in my life! It’s useless to try to keep up with the ever so faster running world. I mean, I tried it and I realized the quality of my work decreased immensely, resulting in me getting frustrated over some pity issues. For sure I am not the only one who experiences life as such!
So, keeping all this in mind, I “floated” into the weekend. My creative juices started to work and I took all the time in the world I needed, to present you those semi healthy Apple Flax seed cupcakes with a cute Lemon glaze.
Flax seeds are actually meant to be consumed raw for the omega essential oils to take full effect in our bodies. Flax seeds are rich in Omega 3 and 6 essential fatty acids, thus they are heat sensitive (explained here before). This time I told myself “What the heck! We cook fish, don’t we?!”, two seconds later the freshly ground seeds landed in my pastry… I have no idea if the essential fats survived, but I can tell you the cupcakes tasted great with the Flax seeds and together with the chopped apples and the Lemon Icing. I made them even look a bit pretty, however I had some trouble in the process with the icing. The humidity and heat is always a problem when working with this type of sugars, so try to work in a cool room or keep the cupcakes in the fridge after adding the decorative icing (if you live in the tropics as I do).
Tell me dear reader,
do you ever tend to loose your creative juices?
What do you do in those times?
